Los Angeles continues to lead the nation in celebrating creativity and inclusion. This October, the city proudly presents an extraordinary event that blends art, empowerment, and community impact — the 18th Annual Disability Art Exhibition, hosted by the Los Angeles Department on Disability in partnership with the Department of Cultural Affairs.
Held from October 3 through October 24, 2025, the exhibition takes place at the Henry P. Rio Bridge Gallery, inside Los Angeles City Hall, 200 N. Spring Street. Admission is free, and the public is invited to visit weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
A Celebration of Value and Talent
This year’s exhibition carries the theme “Celebrating Value and Talent”, recognizing both the artistry and perseverance of individuals with disabilities. The event also honors two major milestones:
-
35th Anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
-
80th Anniversary of National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM)
These commemorations serve as a reminder of how far society has come — and how art continues to break barriers for accessibility and awareness.
Exhibiting Creative Brilliance
The gallery transforms City Hall into a vibrant space where diverse perspectives shine. Featured works include paintings, sculptures, photography, and mixed-media installations that reflect personal journeys of resilience, identity, and imagination.
Highlighted artists include:
-
Diana Lopez, creator of “You Will Bloom Like a Flower if You Take the Time to Water Yourself,” an expressive blend of color and American Sign Language-inspired motifs.
-
Caleb Kim, with “Equity Through Access: People Who Help Me,” a visual story celebrating community connection and inclusion.
Inclusive Art Partnerships
The 2025 exhibition is made possible through collaborations with key community partners who empower disabled artists across Los Angeles:
-
L.A. GOAL, supporting adults with developmental disabilities through art and education.
-
Create A Dot Studio, known for adaptive and imaginative artmaking approaches.
-
Tierra del Sol Foundation and KASEC (Korean American Special Education Center), both showcasing diverse creative voices.
Access and Engagement
To ensure full accessibility, the Department on Disability provides accommodations through its office.
