The sunlit green of West Hollywood Park will soon be filled with stories, song, and laughter when the 3rd Annual Los Angeles Kids Book Festival (LAKBF) graces its grounds on Sunday, September 7, 2025, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.. Presented by the American Born Chinese Foundation—a vibrant 501(c)(3) championing children’s bilingual literacy—and in proud partnership with the City of West Hollywood and sponsored by the LA Phil, this festival is Los Angeles’s largest free celebration of early childhood education, multiculturalism, and bilingualism.
A Day Brimming with Storytelling, Music, and Multicultural Magic
From the moment families step into the park, they’ll be swept up in a kaleidoscope of creativity. Nearly 100 children’s authors and illustrators, both local and from across the nation—including Arizona, Pennsylvania, New York, and Tennessee—will be on hand to engage young readers. Panels discussing the art of crafting children’s literature, held at the West Hollywood Rec Center, will inspire parents, educators, and aspiring authors alike.
Meanwhile, interactive performances by The BeatBuds, Chloé and Maud Arnold of the Syncopated Ladies (and their junior group, Sole Talks), and LoveBug & Me will add rhythm and joy. A sensory-friendly “Chill Zone,” provided by Play2Progress, ensures that children needing a quieter space can still fully experience the day’s magic. Cozy storytimes inside the West Hollywood Library offer a gentle retreat for families looking to connect one‑on‑one with a book.

A Festival That Nurtures Literacy, Inclusivity, and Community
“At its core, the Los Angeles Kids Book Festival is about accessibility to literacy and the joy of learning for all families,” says Bonnie Hyde, Founder & CEO of LAKBF. “With the addition of new panels, performances, and sensory-friendly zones, this year’s festival is our most inclusive yet.” Her vision—to create a safe, joyful space where bilingualism and multiculturalism are celebrated—is embodied in every facet of the event.
The festival closes with its signature, ever-popular foam party, guaranteed to send little readers home glowing (quite literally!) and eager to dive into more books. Along the way, families can explore a vibrant online auction, featuring coveted items from the LA Rams, XCEL Wetsuits, STEM cooking kits from I’m The Chef Too, dining experiences courtesy of Innovative Dining Group, plus contributions from Pavilions and other community partners.
The park also buzzes with colorful food trucks, whimsical face painting, and a variety of family-friendly activities—there’s truly something for every child and caregiver to enjoy.
Heartfelt, Purpose-Driven Organization
As a flagship program of the American Born Chinese Foundation, the festival reflects the organization’s energetic commitment to bilingual literacy, cultural inclusion, and early childhood education. Since its launch in 2023, LAKBF has stood out as a beloved community highlight—a free, immersive festival that brings together diverse families and storytellers under one sky.
